THE LEAVES ARE FALLING IN RED RIVER

Summer is officially behind us and we are welcoming autumn! It's finally time to pull on our cozy sweaters, cradle our pumpkin spice lattes, and go leaf peeping. Mountainsides across the state have started to take on a golden, amber, and crimson glow as the foliage changes color for the season. Hop in the car to head north to take in the vibrant scenery before it's gone. A few ideas of things to do while you're in the area:

Drive the Enchanted Circle
The scenic byway is an 83-mile loop through mountains, canyons, valleys, gold-mining towns and more with Wheeler Peak, the highest point in New Mexico, at the center. The drive takes you through the towns of Taos, Angel Fire, Red River, Eagle Nest, and Questa.

Oktoberfest
Red River's annual celebration takes place October 6th-8th and features authentic German food and music, microbreweries, contests (yodeling, brat eating and more), and activities for kids. Admission is $5. More details at redriver.org

Family Photo Shoot
Get a Pinterest-worthy photo for this year's holiday cards using Mother Nature as your backdrop. Gather the family and designate a photographer (or use a tripod and a camera with a timer. The hard part will be choosing the best spot.

Plan a Proposal
Ready to pop the question, but not sure how? Nothing is more romantic than snuggling with your sweetie when the temperature drops. You'll be surrounded by beautiful, peaceful scenery and with vistas like these, she won't see it coming!

Hiking and Biking and Possibly Snowshoeing
Quick, before it snows! Enjoy some of the last days of mountain biking or hiking the many miles of trails in and around the Red River area. If it does end up snowing, you can get in some early-season snowshoeing. Either way, Sitzmark has bike and snowshoe rentals available, so stop in and see us.
