Lost Lake Loop: This high mountain singletrack is a 14 mile loop that offers stunning views of high mountain lakes, avalanche fields, meadows, gorgeous vistas, and an abundance of wildlife. This singletrack can be technical in places so it is best to have a trustworthy bike and the skill to ride the lightning fast descent. This is one of New Mexico’s top rated mountain bike trails for good reason.
Pioneer Creek: A laid back mix of singletrack and jeep roads that provides a very scenic, mellow ride good for any skill level. Located just to the right of the main ski area chalet, this trail is accessible from anywhere in Red River in just a matter of minutes. The most stunning feature of this trail is all the old mining establishments and mines located right next to the trail!
Greenie Peak and Back: This 30 mile route is perfect for masochists! The trail starts right next to Sitzmark Sports and takes you all the way up to Greenie Peak then returns back down to Red River. This route offers some of the most picturesque vistas in the entire area and is abundant with technical descents to keep even the most seasoned veteran mountain biker entertained. Once at Greenie Peak, the highest drivable pass in New Mexico, you are rewarded with amazing views of Eagles Nest and Red River. Take in the stellar views then begin your blistering fast 30 minute descent back to Red River. This trail is perfect for riders who aren’t content with a ride that doesn’t challenge them mentally or physically. Once you completed the 30 mile, 7000 ft elevation gain bruiser, reward yourself with a beer from the Red River Brewing Company. You’ve earned it and then some!
Valle Vidal Loop: This 50 mile loop goes thru one of the most scenic hidden gems in all of New Mexico, the Valle Vidal. This route is perfect for riders who want a longer ride but at the same time not too strenuous. Located approximately 45 minutes north of Red River, this route travels through a valley abundant with fishing and camping opportunities. Once in the heart of the Valle Vidal, you might see wild elk and deer, wolves, antelope, eagles, and a slew of other wildlife. The Valle Vidal Loop is perfect for the nature lover trying to experience a truly wild adventure.
